So back in 2014/15, the animated Ghostbusters movie started development, and now I don't think we'll hear about it until Afterlife is released in March. So until then, what can we expect from it? This blog post is purely prediction-based and not reflective of what we might see.
So we know Fletcher Moules is directing, but who else is involved? It's wise to expect Dan Aykroyd's involvement, as well as Ivan/Jason Reitman as producers. And since there's the rumor of Spiderverse's crew being involved, let's say Lord and Miller could also be producers. Who's gonna write? It could be a duo/trio joint, like say J Michael Straczynski (The Real Ghostbusters), Bill Oakley (The Simpsons), and Derek Drymon (SpongeBob). We'd see a huge plus if the lead character designer is Dan Schoening, the primary artist for the IDW Ghostbusters comics.
What kind of plot could we see? It may involve action and comedy, given the tags on the movie's IMDB page. The exact action and comedy may be in safe hands considering the potential writers and producers, or in wrong hands if given to the wrong staff. A mockup plot involves the lead being involved in a paranormal jailbreak from the containment unit, and he has to get some misfits to reverse the damage and take down a demonic force controlling the ghost army.
Who's the lead? We know the movie's going to from the perspective of a ghost, but the exact ghost is unknown. It could be an original ghost, or might bring back someone like Buster (from the creatively titled episode Buster the Ghost), someone from that Addams wannabe ghost family, or even bring in the logo ghost himself, Mooglie. It would not be wise for it to be Slimer, we all know how it went when he was the star of anything.
Who's gonna be starring? A mockup cast list I have mentions these names: Patton Oswalt, Sean Giambrone, Anna Kendrick, John Mulaney, Michael Ealy, Felissa Rose, Daniel Radcliffe, Rose Leslie, and Frank Welker. The names themselves have a chance of actually being hired, in consideration, or outright not involved. The exact cast I used may be for a specific plot. There's potential to have the voices of the Real Ghostbusters crew involved but someone who can nail Lorenzo Music should be in place of Dave Coulier.
The score could have the usual composer, that being Mark Mothersbaugh, but there were films from this studio that didn't have him. Spiderverse was composed by Daniel Pemberton anyway. Maybe someone like Mark Mancina, Rob Simonsen, John Carpenter, I dunno. The soundtrack might have a bit of a synthwave vibe, with a splash of hip-hop/rap/R&B, kinda like the 80's.
I guess that's all I can say, what about you? Just keep it civil and calm, okay?
