The Big Red Book of Ancient Spells was a book that had spells that apparently could change physical looks and size of objects and living things.
History
The Big Red Book of Ancient Spells was a tome acquired by the Ghostbusters. All spells are written in some arcane language. Even the unexperienced can simply read from the back and cast a spell. When they were shrunk by Nurgot, the Ghostbusters distracted the spectral bounty hunter while Slimer and Janine searched through the Big Red Book for a counterspell. Several attempts resulted in turning Peter Venkman into a rat, as well as making Slimer and the Firehouse change colors. Another spell returned everything to normal and briefly caused Slimer to become very large. The momentarily enlarged Slimer then slammed against Nurgot, enabling the Ghostbusters to easily trap him.
Trivia
- Even though Egon Spengler called it "Big Red Book" it was colored green when shown.
- This marks one of the few times they used magic instead of science to defeat an entity.
