Bonesy is a skeletal ghost being studied at the Paranormal Research Center.

History[]

Before Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire[]

At some point, Bonesy was captured and kept at the Paranormal Research Center for study by the Ghostbusters Engineer Corps. It was kept in an enclosure across from Possessor that was formerly used for a Diamondback Terrapin.

Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire[]

In the summer of 2024, Winston Zeddemore gave the current Ghostbusters a tour of the Paranormal Research Center. Phoebe Spengler stared into Bonsey's empty-looking enclosure, looked away, and asked what was in it. Bonesy appeared and stared at her. When the Death Chill caused a brief power outage later that night, Bonesy was half-way out of its enclosure before Lars Pinfield rebooted the Proton Fields, causing it to be pulled back in.

Trivia[]

Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire Trivia[]

  • A first look of Bonesy was on the back of Fright Feature Ecto Stretch Phoebe figure packaging seen on December 28, 2023. It is listed as a Class III Distinct Human Form.[1]
  • During pre-production, a puppet ghost concept that was approximately 18 inches tall was built and tested in a water tank called "Polter." Arjen Tuiten based the concept on the Kenner toy he loved in his childhood, the Bad-To-The-Bone Ghost, as well as the "Poltergeist" movie.[2]
  • At some point during production, Bonesy was included into the movie in place of Phosphor.[3][4]

I based this concept on the 1986 Kenner Ghostbusters toy figure 'Bad to the Bone' as I loved that as a kid. Inspired by the esthetic of Poltergeist 1982. Although adjustments to have been made, it looked promissing."

  4. Ghostbusters Fans Doug McCarthy post #2 3/26/2024 Doug McCarthy says: "No that is Bonesy, they released a toy of him early on, wasn't in the script we had. Phosphor was VERY different and had his own scene later on . So am hoping he may be in the deleted scenes. I made the on set puppet which was filmed on and he was scanned by Vis FX but maybe they did not rendor him . Who knows. There were some changes after and during the script writer and SAG strikes . So very hard to know . I finished on Firehouse at the end of June last year."
