The Cursed Saber of Captain Kidd is an old inscribed blade connected to Captain Kidd.
History[]
Doctor Dan, The Science Man always said his family was descended from the pirate Captain Kidd but his child Sammy Velez never believed it.[1] Dan had a supposedly cursed saber in his possession that allegedly belonged to Kidd. Dan later took down the saber from above the fireplace to hang a picture of the Horsehead Nebula then stored it in the basement.[2][3]
A couple years later, Sammy found the saber and kept with him for protection against bullies at school. After Sammy Velez and Phoebe Spengler traded insults with three mean girls from Zeddemore Academy, Sammy produced an old saber from their backpack and recited the inscription on the blade, "Let me, who wields this cursed saber, fall within the captain's favor." The ghost of Captain Kidd appeared behind Sammy and took away the saber. The mean girls ran away screaming. Kidd flew away. The next day, Sammy told Ray and Phoebe about the family connection to the saber.
Phoebe, and later Sammy, theorized Captain Kidd and the saber needed to be apart from each other in order for the former to be trapped. During the battle in Kidd Mansion, Phoebe had Lucky Domingo fire cannonballs from a commandeered ghost pirate ship. She blow a whole in the building. In the chaos, Sammy picked up the saber. Kidd declared it was his and grew larger and angrier. Sammy stabbed him in the chest with it and he screamed. Gary remembered their Traps disappeared when they stepped inside. Ray Stantz operated the Drone Trap outside and trapped Kidd.
