The Engineer Corps Uniform is a black flight suit worn by the Ghostbusters Engineer Corps.

History[]

Primary Canon History[]

All members of the Ghostbusters Engineer Corps wore a unique black flight suit that bore the red gear logo of the Corps instead of the standard No-Ghost logo.

Trivia[]

  • The Engineer Corps suit has several modifications: the elbow pads were removed, new seams in the sleeve were created for a shadow elbow pad, new pockets were added to chest for tools and pens, the Velcro at the waist straps were switched out for brass snaps, brass zippers with brass snaps, the nozzle was shortened, and an Engineer Corps patch was added.[1][2]
  • In the Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire script, the Ghostbusters Engineer Corps flight suits were said to be black. The costume department also experimented with making the suits then washing them so all the seaming puckers up and the suit looks aged. They also tried dying a tan cotton ripstop and white cotton ripstop black and dying it different shades of black. The black cotton ripstop turned out to be the best choice. After washing the suit, it was also washed with enzymes to pull out the color.[3]

Wanted to incorporate some new elements to help our scientists out. Let's remove the elbow pads for the lab, but we created new seams in the sleeve so there's a shadow elbow pad. We added some new pockets at chest to keep tools and pens at the ready, swapped the velcro at the waist straps for brass snaps, shortened our nozzle and of course they have their own new patch."

Cause we didn't want to use the elbow pad but how can I nod to them needing to be there without using them and adding some extra pockets that a scientist could keep little tools and pencils and what not. And also from working so much with the suits now I do have to say the velcro at the waist band becomes problematic sometimes when you wash them and stuff. So I was like 'This is a great opportunity to change that' and go with the brass snaps that we have at the brass zippers and change it at the cuffs, too, sort of have these details that are a lot cleaner so that things would get attached to the suit at the lab."

But I think it was open to other options. Black ended up looking too sleek but I feel like we-something that we do with the original Ghostbusters suits is that we have fabric-we make the Ghostbusters suits and then we wash them so that all the seaming puckers up and looks aged whereas if you pre-wash the cotton they'll already be pre-shrunk but we like to shrink after we make the suits so it doesn't look perfect. So it does a lot of the pre-aging for us that way and so we played around with the black as well where I got the tan cotton ripstop and dyed it black. We got a black cotton ripstop and we did a white and dyed it different colors of black. So we played around with the shades. And it turned out the best option was just a black cotton ripstop that we make the suits out of and then being to wash it and create the puckering and seaming at the seams and wash it with enzymes to pull out the color."
