Ghostbusters II[]

Peter Venkman managed to wrangle a reservation for two on New Year's Eve and took Dana Barrett to dinner. Dana proposed a toast to the most charming, kindest, and most unusual man she ever broke up with. They clinked glasses and drank. Peter inquired why she dumped him. She denied it and clarified she was protecting herself because he was not very good for her. She asked him if he knew that. Peter retorted he was not even good for him. Dana told him he was much better than he realized and did not give himself enough credit. He mused he needed to hear that kind of stuff and if he had that kind of support on a 24-hour-day basis, he would have himself whipped into shape by the end of this century. Dana teased he should give her a jingle in the year 2000. Peter countered with giving her a jingle right now. Dana and Peter kissed. Just as Peter and Dana were rekindling their romance, the other three Ghostbusters stormed into Armand's covered in Psychomagnotheric Slime and wearing only their long underwear. The Maître D' tried to talk. Egon Spengler informed him it was right. Ray Stantz promised they were going inside for a minute. They spotted Dana and Peter. Ray shouted his name. They shouted and walked over, to Peter's dismay. The Maitre D' followed them and asked them to please get out of his restaurant. They spoke hysterically about the slime and its connection to the Manhattan Museum of Art. The Maître D' asked them leave because they were disturbing his guests. Ray told him to wait just a second.

Peter talked at the top of his voice to get their undivided attention. He pointed out they were scaring the straights and asked if it could wait until tomorrow. Egon stated it could not wait because things were hot and ready to pop. Ray agreed and the slime was all over and under the city. Winston Zeddemore added there were rivers full of it. Egon revealed it was all flowing right to the museum. Ray threw out his arm to point towards the museum and accidentally slung some of the slime on a female patron. She was disgusted and asked what it was. Ray spoke in a normal tone and apologized. Dana was concerned they were talking about the Manhattan Museum of Art. Peter confessed he was going to tell her between the dessert and the cheese course. The Maître D' called the police and had them arrested. He returned to Peter and Dana's table with two police officers. Peter instructed Dana she could never go back to the museum again and she had to find a new job. Ray explained the slime was a psychomagnotheric plasm. Egon added it affected behavior. Ray talked about by they were fighting. Winston stated he held Ray by the throat. The officers attempted to get their attention. Ray declared they had see the mayor! The officers each corralled Ray and Egon towards the door with Winston talking to them. The Maitre D', the slimed patron, and the slimed patron's date followed them. Peter and Dana got up from their table and left, too.

Darting from table to table in a white dress shirt and black slacks, Reitman looks more like a harried waiter than one of Hollywood's highest-priced comedy filmmakers, the director of Twins, Legal Eagles, Ghostbusters, Stripes, and Meatballs and the producer of Animal House. He ducks behind his video monitor and focuses on Murray and Weaver. Even with boom mikes lurking in the background, it's a cozy moment."

Line reads: "It's the last week of a thirteen-week shoot, and Reitman is eager to get this scene in the can. He calls for quiet. Suddenly Murray stands and waves his napkin in the air. "Correct me if I'm wrong," he says, "but isn't this double Academy Award nominee Sigourney Weaver's last shot of the movie?" The crew cackles with glee. Throughout the day, whenever work has been halted by technical delays, Murray has lectured the crew about "keeping our double nominee waiting," a reference to Weaver's being up for Oscars for both Best Actress and Best Supporting Actress (for Gorillas in the Mist and Working Girl; she would win neither)."

The scene is Dr. Venkman's last chance at romance. As the camera rolls, the doctor coos, "So ... making any New Year's resolutions?" His love object tosses back her hair and coolly replies, "I want to stop getting involved with men who aren't any good for me." Venkman is crushed. "Does that start exactly at midnight tomorrow?" he asks. "Or could you maybe hold off for a few days?" Reitman beams. "It's a take." The crew cheers. Weaver stands up, merrily spins around and takes a bow. Murray is delighted too."
