Development[]
On January 17, 2022, it was announced that the color of the tip of wand for the Spengler's Neutrona Wand has been changed from silver to orange to "allow people to use the Neutrona Wand freely in cosplay and public environments, like comic conventions."[1]
Trivia[]
- A Hasbro team went to the set of Ghostbusters: Afterlife and examined the real movie prop. They took exact measurements, took a 3D scan, and after returning to the office, they went over the 3D model with Ben Eadie, Ghostbusters Armorer. They listened to his feedback, corrected the model, and implemented changes.[2]
- The Spengler's Neutrona Wand is not fully metal like the movie prop but they only supposedly differ by a few pounds.[3]
- Just like the movie prop, the wand must be turned on in the correct sequence for it to work:[4]
- Flip up the bottom switch on the right side of the rear of the gunbox.
- Flip up the top switch on the right side of the rear of the gunbox.
- Flip up the "Activate" switch on the left side of the rear of the gunbox.
- Pull the green lever towards you to extend the wand.
- Push "Intensify" to fire.
- Also like the movie prop:
- There is a motor inside the gunbox that rumbles when the wand is turned on.
- The barrel has to be manually pushed back in.
- The product box is based on an old military metal long box that contains the thrower in the movie.
- There are a few nods to Ghostbusters: The Video Game:
- In addition to the proton stream, the wand can be switched to the Plasm Distribution System's Slime Blower, the Dark Matter Generator's Stasis Stream, or the Composite Particle System's Meson Collider.
- If the Intensify button is held down too long during proton stream mode, it will overheat and ring the alarm like in-game then turn off.
