Plot[]
The next day, Callie and Gary rushed into the Paranormal Research Center and found Phoebe and Lucky huddled together in Parka Uniforms on the floor. They tried to explain but Gary told them all that mattered was they were okay. Phoebe tried to tell them they were in trouble. Callie told her she was not in trouble. Lars saw the pieces of the Orb of Garraka and knew they were in big trouble. They left for the Firehouse.
Garraka entered the Firemaster Smoke N Vape in Brooklyn thinking a Fire Master was inside. The clerk on duty had his back turned to the entrance and was finishing stocking a shelf when the bell rung. He asked for a minute. Garraka asked him if he was the Fire Master. Unaware of what Garraka was, the clerk sarcastically replied he was and told him to read the "damn sign." The clerk turned around and Garraka froze him. An icicle shot out from the shelf and shattered his body to pieces.
Garraka froze the front door to Nadeem's apartment and burst through the doorway in his ethereal form. He manifested his physical form, scratched a framed photograph of Dadi and Nadeem, and went into the hidden brass room. He reattached his horns and his full power was restored. The room froze as his eyes lit up.
Cars honked their horns in traffic in Chinatown. The beach at Coney Island was crowded with people. Just after the Wonder Wheel paused during a rotation, the Death Chill approached the shore as a sizable atmospheric disturbance. Teenagers in one of the Wonder Wheel cabs looked out at the "black storm cloud." Everyone soon noticed the large black cloud rapidly moving towards them. Icicles suddenly shot up through the water and traveled up through the beach. The people panicked and ran away. The lifeguard on duty jumped down from his post. Lightning struck an umbrella swept up in the air.
Ecto-1 made its way up the Verrazzano-Narrows Bridge. Lightning struck across the city. The city experienced a winter storm. The older police officer told the younger office to call it in. Cars skidded around in Chinatown. Ice spikes shot up across the street. A couple hailed a taxi cab but it was impaled and was carried up into mid-air. The ice spikes traveled down the street and shattered a coffee shop's storefront. Ecto-1 made its way through Fifth Avenue and passed City Hall Park. Phoebe said it was okay if they hated her. Gary said they were worried. Callie added they had no idea where she was and she could have been killed. Phoebe admitted she felt stupid for trusting somebody she should not have. Gary tried to downplay it by saying he knew plenty of smart people who were morons. Callie reminded her she said it was okay to make mistakes. Phoebe pointed out she released a monstrous deity. Callie suggested getting a tattoo next time. Gary suggested shoplifting. Callie gave him the look then asked Phoebe if she was ready to be a Spengler again. She nodded. Callie told her they needed her. Two Mini-Pufts looked in awe at the city from the rear door window.
Gary and Callie returned to the Firehouse with Phoebe. Callie deflected questions about how Garraka got free. Ray surmised Garraka was coming for the Containment Unit and form his army with all the ghosts captured by the Ghostbusters. Podcast assured everyone it would be okay because they had a Fire Master. Nadeem demonstrated his pyrokinetic ability and made a flame leap on a candle. Nobody, except Podcast and Nadeem, were floored by what they saw.

When Lucky, Trevor, and Lars go see Nadeem, the script describes the face of a kitty drawn around the peephole (whoever drew the kitty on the door: Your drawing is way funnier than mine!). We see it again when Garraka comes for his horns. As I was drawing the kitty I amused myself by theorizing that there could be a kitty on the inside, but from behind. I made a quick drawing (2nd pic) and popped it off to Gil Kenan, the director."

- ↑ Brooklyn Magazine "Watch: ‘Ghostbusters’ puts Coney Island on ice" 3/26/2024 Gil Kenan says: "I happened to be in Manhattan on its hottest recorded day. It was 114 in the middle of the day and it was a day I'll never forget. Like, parents were stripping clothes off their children on the train coming over from New Jersey into the city. So I was able to channel that sort of intense urban heat that the boroughs can get. When thinking about where our new villain Garraka should unleash his death, and setting the film at the height of summer in the city, (it) allowed us to create the greatest possible dramatic contrast. So of course, Coney Island immediately came to mind. It's part of the city, but it's obviously a classic American beach environment. It has all the hallmarks of a grand day out on a hot day. And to use that as the front line for this freezing attack on the city just felt natural."

Then days later, my manager reached out because producers really wanted me to send something to which I said... "Dang, alright Lord, you must really want me to do this." And I did. A couple days after that, I booked it which was also interesting because I did everything they said NOT to do. Lol. But when you got it, you got it, baby."
