In 1986 Ghostbusters Roleplaying Game Series was released by West End Games. It is noted for giving a clear classification system for paranormal in Tobin's Spirit Guide Pack.

Ghostbusters International 1989-1990[]

  • Ghostbusters International which is an update of Ghostbusters: A Frightfully Cheerful Roleplaying Game was released in 1989. The second version of the game was published both to capitalize on that year's release of the film Ghostbusters II, and to satisfy players who requested a more detailed set of rules. (Anonymous 1989). This boxed set contained a single, 144-page rule book, six dice, and handouts.

  • A promotion for the series was done in Gateways Magazine for (Vol. 2, No. 5 - August 1987).
  • In 1987, Ghostbusters won the Origins Award|H.G. Wells Award for "Best Roleplaying Rules of 1986."

Trivia[]

  • On page 6 of Ghostbusters 101 #4, in panel 5, the tentacle sticking out of Spate's Catalog is a nod to the book's design in the Ghostbusters International board game.
  • On page 24 of Ghostbusters 101 #5, the billing "a compendium of nameless horrors" is a nod to the version of Spate's in the RPG.
