Ghostbusters VR Academy is a location-based virtual reality experience where players take on the role of a Ghostbusters trainee and learn to busts ghosts and drive the Ecto-1.

On June 8, 2022, Jack Zim announced Ghostbusters VR Academy, the ultimate location-based, fully immersive Ghostbusters training simulator, from Hologate. It is a 2-part experience. Trainees go up from sewers to the roof of a building infested with ghosts while wearing a VR headset and haptic vest. In the second part, they will race around the city in a prototype Ecto-1 that can fly. They will go from a trainee center, avoiding the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man in the city, and in the sewers filled with Psychomagnotheric Slime.[1][2]
On June 11, 2022, stills shown at Ghostbusters Day were released. The ghostbusting part is called ARENA and the driving part in the vehicle motion simulator is called BLITZ.[3]
On September 14, 2022, photos from the booth at the IAAPA Europe Expo was posted.[4]
On February 3, 2023, Peer Vosberg posted various concepts of Ecto-1, the Blitz, player avatars, equipment, the hotel lobby, a green river of slime, Bell Boy ghost, Piranha ghost, Slimer and Spectrals.[5]
On March 27, 2023, a trailer was released to commemorate the VR Academy opening in over 450 locations across 42 countries. The trailer also reveals a Remote Trap Vehicle, River of Slime level, and Ghost Train level.[6]
On March 28, 2023, Mckenna Grace, Logan Kim, and Finn Wolfhard were spotted playing VR Academy at the Gravity Active Entertainment Center in Wandsworth, England.[7] Ghostbuster models were posted by Renan Leser.[8]
On November 20, 2023, it was announced VR Academy would be included at Wonderverse.[9]

Description[]
- Arena
- In the ARENA game, academy members in training will strap on their proton packs and work together as a team in high-risk ghost encounter scenarios – all under the safeguard of academy grounds.
- Blitz
- In the BLITZ game, trainees will have the opportunity to take the wheel in the prototype ECTO vehicle, a vehicle exclusively available for evaluation at the academy. Players will compete to see who is the fastest, most skillful driver in a high-speed ghostly race, putting the prototype vehicle to the test and choosing if it is worth joining the ranks of future Ghostbusters equipment.
