Ghostbusters 20th Anniversary Merchandise Wave was a wave of merchandise released in promotion of the Twentieth year anniversary of the first movies release in theaters. It was the first major attempt at marketing the "Ghostbusters" brand as a nostalgic property. The lead product was supposed to be the DVD release of Ghostbusters and Ghostbusters II, though they ended up being released in 2005, instead of 2004.

- Ghostbusters 88MPH Studios Comics- A four part comic series was released in 2004 with a ongoing series suggested to come. However, 88MPH cancelled their planned series, only releasing Issue #0 "The Zeddemore Factor" at SDCC in 2004.
- Ghostbusters: The Return-Novel by ibooks which was going to be part of a series of books.

- NECA Ghostbusters Toy Line- The line was launched in 2003. It lasted til 2005, releasing Action Figures of the first films ghosts, but not making any Ghostbusters themselves.
