• Zuul is worshiped as a demigod by the Hittites, Mesopotamians, and Sumerians.
  • Outside the orchestra, Dana Barrett informally meets with Peter Venkman. She reads out loud the Ghostbusters' findings on Zuul from an excerpt of "The Roylance Guide to Secret Societies and Sects" (and probably other occult references mentioned earlier in the film, Ghostbusters).

Post-4000 B.C.

• During The Rectification of the Vuldronaii, Gozer assumes a (destructor) form of a Torb (in a parallel dimension).
  • Vinz Clortho, while in possession of Louis Tully, states this event to Egon Spengler and Janine Melnitz in Ghostbusters.
• During the Third Reconciliation of the Last Meketrex Supplicants, Gozer assumes a (destructor) form of a Sloar (in a parallel dimension). Many Shubs and Zulls roast in the depths of the Sloar.
  • Vinz Clortho, while in possession of Louis Tully, states this event to Egon Spengler and Janine Melnitz in Ghostbusters.

1976 B.C.

• Garraka helps Samudari conquer half of Central Asia. He becomes suspicious of Garraka's ambitions and has him captured, branded, broken, and disfigured. Garraka's horns, the source of his greatest strength, are ripped from his head. Garraka goes on a murder spree.
  • In Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire, Dr. Hubert Wartzki states the event was 4000 years ago. 4000 years before 2024 is 1976 BC.
• Garraka plots to raise an army of the undead and wage war on humanity with the Death Chill but he is defeated by the Fire Masters and imprisoned in a brass orb.

• An event contributes to the countdown to the coming of Gozer.

  • In Ghostbusters: Dead Man's Chest Issue #3, page 6, the birth year 1645 is on the plaque.

• Captain Kidd and his family pose for a family portrait.
  • On page 13 of Ghostbusters: Dead Man's Chest Issue #2, Phoebe Spengler notes it is a seventeenth century painting. In real world history, Captain Kidd married Sarah Bradley Cox Oort in May 1691 and had two daughters before his death in 1701.

1701 A.D.

• May 23: Captain Kidd is hanged twice for murder then gibbeted over River Thames as a warning to all pirates.
  • On page 13 of Ghostbusters: Dead Man's Chest Issue #2, Ray Stantz mentions Captain Kidd was hanged. In real world history, Kidd was executed on May 23, 1701 in London.
  • On page 6 of Ghostbusters: Dead Man's Chest Issue #3, the death year 1701 is on the plaque seen.

1779 A.D.

• Gracie Mansion is built in Manhattan on the East River.
  • In Ghostbusters II, the year is seen on the Gracie Mansion plaque as the NYPD officers arrive with the Ghostbusters.

• An event contributes to the countdown to the coming of Gozer.

• Gracie Mansion is remodeled for Archibald Gracie.

• Mary Todd Lincoln is recorded saying the F word after she sees a moth.
  • In Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire, Dr. Hubert Wartzki mentions the event. Event estimated to take place between 1877, when the phonograph is invented, and 1882, the year Mary Todd Lincoln passed away.

1883 A.D.

• The events of Krakatoa explosion contributes to the countdown to the coming of Gozer.
  • In Ghostbusters: Afterlife, Chapter 13, 1883 is one of the years inscribed in the Shandor mine.

1884 A.D.

• The ghost of an unidentified woman begins haunting soldiers at Fort Detmerring in New York.
  • A Fort Detmerring official tells Ray Stantz and Winston Zeddemore about a 100 year old haunting (i.e. 1984-100=1884).
  • The Ghostbusters commentary and "Making Ghostbusters" explain this was a deleted scene recycled into a dream sequence. Accepted as canon because this does not contradict any established continuity.

1889 A.D.

• One of the greatest tangible evidence of psychic energy is recorded.
  • In Ghostbusters II, during the conclusion of the Armand's Restaurant date, Ray Stantz compares the Mood slime to an event that has not happened in 100 years (i.e. 1989-100=1889).

1892 A.D.

• General Daisy Helen P. is awarded honors by the Manhattan Adventurers Society.
  • In a Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire set photo, prop modeller Ellen Gould revealed there was a honor board in the frozen room set.

1894 A.D.

• Richard George Jolley is awarded honors by the Manhattan Adventurers Society.

1904 A.D.

• Mid-July: A gathering is held at the Manhattan Adventurers Society. The Orb of Garraka is taken out and a wax cylinder recording of the chant to open it is played. The Death Chill freezes the ballroom and everyone inside it. A Fire Master re-seals the orb just as Hook & Ladder Company 8 arrives.
  • In Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire, the timestamp "1904" appears at the start of the movie. Dr. Hubert Wartzki states it took place during in the middle of July.

1908 A.D.

• The Tunguska Blast of 1908 takes place. The parapsychological community considers this the biggest inter-dimensional cross rip to date. It also contributes to the countdown to the coming of Gozer.
  • Ray Stantz states this event was in 1909 to Louis Tully upon Gozer's defeat at the end of Ghostbusters.
  • In Ghostbusters: Afterlife, Chapter 13, 1908 is one of the years inscribed in the Shandor mine.

1920 A.D.

• The New York Central City Albany train is derailed, killing hundreds of people.
  • Egon Spengler reveals this event after Winston Zeddemore is passed through by a Ghost Train.
• Dr. Ivo Shandor starts a secret society dedicated to the whorship of Gozer.
  • Egon Spengler states the year and event information in a prison cell taken from Tobin's Spirit Guide in Ghostbusters.

1927 A.D.

• The Shandor Mining Company is founded. It begins boring out a mountain like a grapefruit and smelting everything into cold-riveted selenium girders.
  • In Ghostbusters: Afterlife, Chapter 01, the sign at the front gate reads "Est 1927."

1928 A.D.

• Summerville, Oklahoma is founded. It is built by Ivo Shandor.
  • According to page 26 of Ghostbusters: Afterlife: The Art and Making of the Movie, Summerville was founded in 1928. The title of the first part of the book reads "Part I: Past is Prologue Welcome To Summerville (Est. 1928)".
  • In Ghostbusters: Afterlife, Chapter 12, Lucky Domingo mentions Ivo Shandor built the whole town.

1939 A.D.

• A flower cart is possessed in Berlin, Germany. 300 eyewitnesses saw it move half a kilometer.
  • Egon Spengler states this event to Ray Stantz in Ray's Occult Books after the title sequence of Ghostbusters II.
• The Van Horne Pneumatic Transit is abandoned.
  • In Ghostbusters II, Egon Spengler states to Winston Zeddemore that the tunnel was abandoned for 50 years (i.e. 1989-50=1939).

1942 A.D.

• Gracie Mansion is selected as the official mayoral residence by Mayor Fiorello La Guardia.
  • In Ghostbusters II, the year is seen on the Gracie Mansion plaque as the NYPD officers arrive with the Ghostbusters.

1945 A.D.

• The events of World War II contributes to the countdown to the coming of Gozer.
  • In Ghostbusters: Afterlife, Chapter 13, 1945 is one of the years inscribed in the Shandor mine.
• May 20: The Shandor Mining Company is forced to shut down operations after 54 miners commit mass suicide and jump down a mine elevator shaft to their deaths. It becomes known as the Shandorian Curse.
  • In Ghostbusters: Afterlife, Chapter 04, Podcast mentions the event took place in the '40s.
  • A behind the scenes photograph of the miner memorial outside the Summerville Post Office bears a date of May 20, 1945. 54 names are on the memorial. It is unrevealed if the miners died before or after Ivo Shandor.
• Ivo Shandor passes away.
  • In Ghostbusters: Afterlife, Chapter 13, the plaque on Ivo Shandor's tomb is 1855-1945.
• June 17: Winston Zeddemore is born in Gotham, New York.
  • In Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire, a file from the Office of the Mayor lists Winston Zeddemore's date of birth as "06/17/1945" and birth place as "Gotham, NY."

1947 A.D.

• The Philadelphia Mass Turbulence of 1947 takes place. It is the most definitive event of symmetrical book stacking to date.
  • In Ghostbusters, Ray Stantz states this event to Egon Spengler and Peter Venkman in the New York City Public Library.
• September 20th: Mayor Fiorello La Guardia dies.
  • In Ghostbusters II, Mayor Lenny tells his staff he spent his night talking to La Guardia, and he'd been dead for 40 years.
  • The date of death is taken from actual history.

1954 A.D.

• July 1: Ray Stantz is born in Long Island, New York.
  • In Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire, a file from the Office of the Mayor lists Winston Zeddemore's date of birth as "07/01/1954" and birth place as "Long Island, NY."
• October 25: Peter Venkman is born in Brooklyn, New York.
  • In Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire, a file from the Office of the Mayor lists Winston Zeddemore's date of birth as "10/25/1954" and birth place as "Brooklyn, NYC."

1956 A.D.

• Summerville Middle School is founded.
  • On page 47 of Ghostbusters: Afterlife: The Art and Making of the Movie, the design for the Summerville Middle School seal is presented, confirming the school was established in 1956.

1962 A.D.

• Mr. Fianella begins working for ConEd in New York.
  • In Ghostbusters II, during the Ghostbusters' trial, Fianella states he worked at ConEd for 27 years (i.e. 1989-27=1962).

1964 A.D.

• Between April 22nd and October 18th: Janine Melnitz buys two coins from the 1964 New York World's Fair at Flushing Meadows Corona Park.
  • In Ghostbusters, Janine Melnitz gives one of her coins to Egon Spengler before they set out to 550 Central Park West in the "Busy" deleted scene.

1967 A.D.

• Wertheimer's Hardware is founded.
  • In Ghostbusters: Afterlife, Chapter 14, the year 1967 can be seen to the right of "Wertherimer's Hardware" on the exterior.

1969 A.D.

• October 29: Egon Spengler graduates from Columbia University with a degree in Psychology in the faculty of Psychobiology.
  • In Ghostbusters: Afterlife, Chapter 07, Egon Spengler shows Phoebe Spengler his framed diplomas.
  • On page 79 of Ghostbusters: Afterlife: The Art and Making of the Movie, the diploma is featured and legible enough to note he graduated from Columbia University on October 29, 1969 with a degree in Psychology in the faculty of Psychobiology.

1972 A.D.

• May 10: Egon Spengler graduates from New York University with a degree in Parapsychology.
  • In Ghostbusters: Afterlife, Chapter 07, Egon Spengler shows Phoebe Spengler his framed diplomas.
  • On page 79 of Ghostbusters: Afterlife: The Art and Making of the Movie, the diploma is featured and legible enough to note he graduated from on May 10, 1972 from New York University with a degree in Parapsychology.

1980 A.D.

• June 26: Egon Spengler graduates from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology with a degree of philosophy in Nuclear Engineering.
  • In Ghostbusters: Afterlife, Chapter 07, Egon Spengler shows Phoebe Spengler his framed diplomas.
  • On page 79 of Ghostbusters: Afterlife: The Art and Making of the Movie, the diploma is featured and legible enough to note he graduated on June 26, 1980 from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology with a degree of philosophy in Nuclear Engineering.
• Louis Tully starts his career as an accountant.
  • In Ghostbusters, Louis Tully tells Dana Barrett he is holding a party that celebrates his fourth anniversary as an accountant (i.e. 1984-4=1980).

1982 A.D.

• Annette Fleming decides to defer a bonus.
  • In Ghostbusters, Louis Tully states the event happened two years ago to everyone at his 4th anniversary party.
• Callie Spengler is born.
  • According to Egon Spengler's notes on a note card seen at the 1:26:37 mark in Ghostbusters: Afterlife, Chapter 14, Callie Spengler celebrated her second birthday in 1984. Therefore, she was born in 1982. The note card is left of Callie's left shoulder when her back is to the screen as she is looking at the board of photographs, clipping, and notes about her life. The note card is to the left of the full size photograph of her in a blue dress with a white collar and above a yellow Post It note. The top of the note card reads "Birthday 1984" and the line below it reads "Two Years Old."

Before 1984 A.D.

• Ray Stantz acquires a haunted rotting human pinkie finger from Farview State Hospital in Pennsylvania.
  • In Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire, Ray Stantz tells Phoebe Spengler he got the pinkie at the "old state hospital for the criminally insane" in Pennsylvania and "we had no equipment back then," implying this took place before 1984 at the earliest but before the P.K.E. Meter was built.

1984 A.D.

• The Stay Puft Corporation blankets New York City with advertising for their "Summer of Puft" campaign.
  • In Ghostbusters: Dead Man's Chest Issue #1, on page 16, Ray Stantz mentions the event took place in 1984.
• Late September, Two Weeks Prior: Disturbances in the Sedgewick Hotel caused by Slimer become noticeably more problematic.
  • The Sedgewick Hotel Manager tells the Ghostbusters the disturbances have never been problematic until two weeks ago.
    • The Sedgewick Hotel busts takes place in early October so it is likely Slimer became a bigger problem in late September.
• Late September: At 1:40 p.m., in the New York City Public Library, 10 eyewitnesses see a ghost. Drs. Egon Spengler, Ray Stantz, and Peter Venkman investigate and take readings that go toward perfecting key technology.
  • In Ghostbusters, Ray Stantz states this event to Peter Venkman just as he was making a move on Jennifer in Weaver Hall.
  • Late September is conjecture based on the October time frame.
• The Ghostbusters is founded.
• Early October: After leaving her apartment for two days, Dana Barrett sees the Ghostbusters about Zuul.
  • In Ghostbusters, Dana Barrett states she left her apartment two days ago and hadn't been back since.
  • Early October is conjecture based on the interview with Dana Barrett taking place the day of or same week of the Sedgewick Hotel bust.
• October 7-8: Before midnight, the Ghostbusters receive their first call and capture Slimer at the Sedgewick Hotel.
  • In Ghostbusters, the sign in front of the Alhambra Ballroom reads "Eastside Theatre Guild, Midnight Buffet."
  • The USA Today newspaper has a date of October 8, 1984.
    • It is conjecture but assumed the Ghostbusters met the press outside the Sedgewick after midnight and the newspaper ran with the story as soon as possible.
• October 22, Two Weeks Later: Ray Stantz and Peter Venkman return from the Brooklyn job and hire Winston Zeddemore.
  • In Ghostbusters, after the interview, Janine Melnitz states to Peter Venkman that she's been working two weeks without a break.
  • The latest date during the montage is on the New York Post, on October 22, 1984.
    • It is conjecture but assumed the Chinatown Spook bust was the day before.
• November 8, A Couple Weeks Later, Thursday: Before 9 p.m., Zuul possesses Dana Barrett and Vinz Clortho posssesses Louis Tully.
  • In Ghostbusters, just prior to the final battle, Winston Zeddemore states to Mayor Lenny that he's only been working with the Ghostbusters for a couple weeks.
  • In Ghostbusters, Dana Barrett agrees to a date with Peter Venkman on Thursday, nine-ish. The grid is shut down the next day.
  • November 8, 1984 was chosen among the historical Thursdays in the time frame for Winston Zeddemore to have been working a couple weeks with the Ghostbusters.
• November 9, Friday: Janine Melnitz gives Egon Spengler her lucky coin from the World's Fair at Flushing Meadow in 1964. He is unsure about taking it because they might not survive. She admits she has another one at home and hugs him.
  • In Ghostbusters: Afterlife, Chapter 16, the event is seen.
• November 9, Friday: The Ghostbusters defeat Gozer by crossing the streams into its Ziggurat.
  • In Ghostbusters, just prior to the final battle, Winston Zeddemore states to Mayor Lenny that he's only been working with the Ghostbusters for a couple weeks.
  • In Ghostbusters, Dana Barrett agrees to a date with Peter Venkman on Thursday, nine-ish. The grid is shut down the next day.
  • November 8, 1984 was chosen among the historical Thursdays in the time frame for Winston Zeddemore to have been working a couple weeks with the Ghostbusters.
  • A USA Today prop was created for a scene in Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire, Chapter 5, that dates the day Walter Peck had the Containment Unit shut down as "Tuesday, November 6, 1984". Due to the contradictory nature of this date with previous information, it is noted here but not used as a source.
  • Ghostbusters II takes place five years later in November. It is conjecture, but logically Ghostbusters would also end in November.

Between 1984 and 1987 A.D.

• The Ghostbusters are sued by every state, city, and county for the Gozer Incident. They are served a judicial restraining order, preventing them from paranormal investigation and eliminations.
  • Ghostbusters II begins with "5 Years Later" but that is interpreted as "five years after the events of Ghostbusters" and in the courtroom scene, Peter Venkman says, "its been years since they used the packs." There is never a concrete mention of exactly when the Ghostbusters were served the order.

Between 1984 and 1989 A.D.

• Ray Stantz is invited to document one of Madame Malveaux's seances. He confirms she has the power of clairvoyance.
  • In Ghostbusters: Back in Town Issue #3, on page 14, Ray Stantz mentions the event. The event would take place prior to the events of Ghostbusters II when Madame Malveaux still had her powers.

Between 1984 and 1990s A.D.

• The Ghostbusters bust a Troll under the Brooklyn Bridge.
  • In Ghostbusters: Back in Town Issue #4, on page 18, Janine Melnitz mentions the event.

1985 A.D.

• April: The registration on Ecto-C expires.
  • In Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire, the registration sticker on Ecto-C reads "4 85" or April 1985.

1986 A.D.

• December 22: Egon Spengler graduates from the University of Philadelphia
  • In Ghostbusters: Afterlife, Chapter 07, Egon Spengler shows Phoebe Spengler his framed diplomas.
  • On page 79 of Ghostbusters: Afterlife: The Art and Making of the Movie, the diploma is featured and legible enough to note he graduated on December 22, 1986 from the University of Philadelphia.

1987 A.D.

• Egon Spengler notes Callie Spengler's freckle count has doubled and predicts braces are next.
  • In Ghostbusters: Afterlife, Chapter 14, one of the notes on the board about Callie Spengler mentions the year 1987 and the event.

1989 A.D.

• March/April: Dana Barrett's son, Oscar, is born.
  • In Ghostbusters II, Chapter 05: Investigating Oscar, Ray Stantz notes Oscar is about eight months. Calculated from the estimation Ghostbusters II starts in late November.
• November 14: An exhibit featuring the art of Edgar Degas begins at the Manhattan Museum of Art
  • In Ghostbusters II, Chapter 03: Dr. Janosz Poha, the Edgar Degas banner hanging outside the museum has the dates November 14 to March 3.
• Last Week: Dana Barrett asks Frank the Superintendent to fix the radiator in Oscar's bedroom.
  • In Ghostbusters II, Chapter 01: Start, Dana Barrett tells Frank the Superintendent she asked him last week.
• Late November, Friday: Psychomagnetheric Slime possesses Dana Barrett's baby carriage in an attempt to kidnap her son Oscar, indirectly putting the Ghostbusters back in business.

Trevor blasts the silo capacitors. Callie triggers the Trap Field. Gozer, Zuul, Vinz Clortho, the Psychokinetic Atmospheric Influence and the P.K.E. Wisps are all trapped.

Summer

Note: In Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire, Trevor Spengler states he is 18 years old during the Sewer Dragon bust and Walter Peck finds out Phoebe Spengler is 15 which indicates three years have passed between Ghostbusters: Afterlife and Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire. During the NY1 News report, Pat Kiernan mentions it is summer. Lars Pinfield mentions the Containment Unit compiled 40 years worth of spiritual waste. The present day events of Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire takes place in the summer of 2024. In Total Film #348 (March 2024), Gil Kenan mentions the story takes place "within the confines of just a few days of the summer."

• Day One: The Ghostbusters pursue the Sewer Dragon in Ecto-1 through SoHo in Lower Manhattan. Phoebe Spengler disobeys Callie Spengler and Gary Grooberson and goes out on the gunner chair, causing property damage. Callie traps the Sewer Dragon with the Drone Trap. Gary takes evasive action and plows a row of rental bicyles at City Hall Park.

• Day Four: Possessor possesses Patience the Lion statue outside the New York City Public Library. Phoebe Spengler uses a Particle Thrower concealed in Ecto-C to blow up Patience. They are all arrested.

• Day Four: Mayor Walter Peck gloats at a police station and informs the Ghostbusters that the Firehouse is condemned and the Proton Packs have been confiscated. Winston Zeddemore warns Ray Stantz to find a new way to do what he loves before it kills him.

• Day Four: The Ghostbusters break into the Firehouse. Gary Grooberson convinces Callie Spengler to stay and fight for their home. Ray Stantz and Podcast coaches Nadeem Razmaadi into using his powers to transfer fire from a lighter to a candle.

• Night Four: Phoebe Spengler sneaks over to Washington Square Park. She and Melody go to the Paranormal Research Center. Phoebe uses the Ionic Separator to ghost-walk for two minutes but learns it was a ruse. Garraka takes control of her spirit form and body and has her say the chant to free him. Lucky Domingo intervenes but the Proton Stream fails to affect Garraka and she is nearly frozen.

• Day Five: Callie Spengler and Gary Grooberson arrive at the the Paranormal Research Center to collect Phoebe Spengler.

Lars Pinfield encounters Pukey outside Trevor Spengler's bedroom on the third floor and is slimed. Phoebe Spengler confronts Melody in the basement and tells her she has to move on herself. Garraka arrives and his ghost army erupts from the Containment Unit.

• Day Five: Phoebe Spengler blasts Garraka with an augmented trifurcated beam but she is frozen. Melody sparks a flame with her match and Nadeem Razmaadi uses it to attack Garraka and thaw everyone out. Phoebe resumes blasting Garraka. Callie, Gary Grooberson, and Trevor come to her aid. Ray Stantz, Peter Venkman, Winston Zeddemore, and Janine Melnitz use the Containment Unit to trap Garraka.

• Day Five: A large crowd outside the Firehouse cheers on the Ghostbusters while reporters from various stations interview them. Mayor Walter Peck is pressured into giving them his support.
