Ghostbusters at Universal Studios featured attractions from 1990 to 1996. Many shows included Beetlejuice. The attraction was closed down in 1996[1], and gotten replaced with Twister...Ride it Out!.

Development[]

On April 19, 2024, Universal Orlando teased the return of a Ghostbusters attraction in the summer.[2]

On April 29, 2024, Universal confirmed Ghostbusters would be involved in the Mega Movie Parade and a nighttime show called CineSational: A Symphonic Spectacular. The parade debuts on July and the Ghostbusters float includes Stay Puft Marshmallow Man.[3]

On May 23, 2024, Ghostbusters-themed decoration and merchandise was seen in the Tribute Store Plaza.[4]

On June 14, 2024, an advanced look at CineSational: A Symphonic Spectacular was posted. Ghostbusters appears around the 9:39 mark and included the Library ghost, orchestral take on "Ghostbusters" song, Muncher the Sentinel Terror Dog, Slimer, Ecto-1a. Drones at one point formed the No-ghost logo and the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man in the sky.[5]

On October 30, 2024, it was reported an Ecto-1 has joined the Mega Movie Parade.[6]

On April 4, 2025, the Film Vault at Universal Studios Florida began displaying prop replicas of Slimer, the Containment Unit, and a Proton Pack.[7]

On April 12, 2025, Ecto-1 rejoined the Mega Movie Parade.[8]

Attractions[]

During the 90's time period there were two possible crews at a given time at the park. One crew acting in the attraction itself, while a street crew that would perform with some crowd interaction. The street productions were a bit more improv in the early days and less organised, especially the first year the park was in operation.

  • (1990-1991?, Street Production) Ghostbuster: House Call Features: Beetlejuice, Female Customer (played by actress that also played Female Hostess), Ghostbusters, Ecto-1, Park Ave street set.
  • (1991-1993?, Street Production) Beetlejuice: Dead in Concert Features: Beetlejuice, Ghostbusters, Slimer, Ecto-1, Library set.
  • (2002?-2005, Street Production) Extreme Ghostbusters: The Great Fright Way Features: Beetlejuice, Ghostbusters (color uniforms), Ecto-1, Library set.
  • (July 3, 2024-November 14, 2024 and April 12, 2025 to Present, Parade) Mega Movie Parade

  • On page 8 of Ghostbusters: Get Real Issue #2, on the brown tack board, on the upper right, there is the billboard image for the Ghostbusters Spooktacular at Universal Studios.
  • On page 8 of Get Real Issue #2, on the left side of the brown tack board, on the is an ad from Universal Studio's show, "I had a Paranormal Experience at Universal Studios Florida"
  • On page 18 of Get Real Issue #2, In panel 3, on the upper right part of the chalkboard is "Spooktacular" and "June 7/90-Nov 9/96." This a reference to the 6 year run of the Ghostbusters Spooktacular attraction at Universal Studios from June 7, 1990 to November 9, 1996.
  • On page 15 of Ghostbusters: Get Real Issue #3, on the upper right side of the brown tack board is the Spooktacular's billboard image.
  • On page 20 of Ghostbusters 101 #2, in panel 2, on the shelf is the "Ghostbusters at Universal Studios" sign.
