Zuul, is one of the guardians of Gozer (described as a mythical demigod of six thousand years BC present in the Hittite, Mesopotamian and Sumerian cultures). Zuul manifests on the physical plane at the top of the Shandor building, where he resides with the musician Dana Barrett (Sigourney Weaver), emerging from the interior of a gothic statue similar to a gargoyle dog. Although it is called "The doorman", everything indicates to be a feminine entity, possessing the body of Dana. After his neighbor Louis Tully (Rick Moranis) being possessed by another similar demon named Vinz Clortho, entities seek to find themselves in the bodies of their hosts. After consummating their mating ritual on a stone table at the top of the Shandor building, Gozer manifests first in the form of a woman, then in the form chosen by her victims.
