J.N. Kline[1] is a famous, wealthy, and successful horror writer of preteen-focused books.

After getting his start from the horror magazine Hair Raising Tales, J.N. Kline became a literary success. At some point, he agreed to an alliance with a trio of Vathek and through their ideas, Kline crafted the wildly popular Gore Series. Kline agreed only because the Vathek promised no people would be harmed. They manipulated him into writing them into existence.[2] After "Guts & Blood" came out, Kline wasn't seen in months. Many speculated he had retired or simply went into an unannounced seclusion to write his next book.[3] In reality, Kline became a prisoner of his own mansion and was forced to type his masterpiece. The force of the Vathek's voices in his head were so strong, Kline couldn't resist and complied.

The Extreme Ghostbusters found Kline but Garrett Miller was unable to rewrite the manuscript effectively. Eduardo Rivera destroyed Kline's typewriter, sending the Vathek back to their own dimension. Kline was freed. Out of gratitude, the Extreme Ghostbusters were written into his next book "More Guts More Blood." Though Garrett was annoyed he was only referred to as "the loud-mouthed guy in the wheelchair."

  • J.N. Kline is a pastiche of writer R.L. Stine, who achieved fame in the mid-1990s for his Goosebumps series, a line of horror-themed books aimed at children. Goosebumps was spun off into a TV series as well as a line of reader-controlled Give Yourself Goosebumps books.
  • During scripting, Kline's initials were "H.P." - a nod to H.P. Lovecraft. He was also said to be in his mid-30's.[4]
  • Kline was a guest on Late Show with David Letterman.[5]
  • Kline's books were read by Eduardo Rivera, Casey Jackson, and Kylie Griffin[6][7]
