Kidd Mansion is the home of Captain Kidd and his family in the 17th century.

History[]

In December of 2022, Phoebe Spengler and Sammy Velez tracked the location of Captain Kidd's house on Pearl Street between Wall Street and Pine Street. An Earthy / Crunchy Health Foods store now stood in its place. Kidd kidnapped Sammy that night and kept them prisoner on the third floor of a corporeal manifestation of Kidd Mansion.[1] Ray Stantz informed Callie Spengler of a huge P.K.E. spike in the Financial District, concentrated at Wall Street and Pearl Street. The Ghostbusters arrived at the mansion after outmaneuvering a ghost pirate ship. Captain Kidd looked at a family portrait then asked Sammy if they knew what everyone called him when he stood on the gallows. Sammy guessed he was called a kind and benevolent sea captain who would never dream of hurting a child. Kidd revealed it was "traitor" even though he was loyal to the crown and plundered their enemies and gave every prize to the King. He went about how he was betrayed, called a pirate, put through a faux trial, lost everything, including his home, life, and family, but as he swung through the doorway to death, he vowed to return and reclaim what was stolen. Sammy reminded Kidd he knew what it was like to be misunderstood and he was a descendant but definitely not his kid from the portrait but did not think taking over Lower Manhattan was the way to clear his name. Sammy suggested he get back into his cursed sword instead of destroying New York. Kidd repeated he was going to have what was taken from him. Sammy took that as a "no."

Phoebe reached for the front door but Trevor Spengler grabbed her arm and asked her what she was doing. Phoebe wanted to save Sammy but Callie Spengler wanted to come up with a plan first before anyone touched the weird glowing ghost stuff. Gary Grooberson pointed out they had Proton Packs and Traps so they should do what they always did. Trevor knew what was coming. Gary shouted it was time to bust some ghosts. Doctor Dan, The Science Man wanted to go inside, too, to save his child, Sammy, but Callie advised him to stay outside since they had the equipment and the experience. Dan pointed out they were only in business for six months. Gary claimed that was a whole decade in "ghost time." Dan questioned the logic and figured the opposite to be true but stated there was no such thing as "ghost time." Gary pointed out they were standing in front of a three-century-old spectral house and asked if that was really where he drew the line then began to doubt he had a Ph.D. Dan asserted he had two. Lucky Domingo volunteered to stay outside with Dan and added she wanted to bust at least one pirate ghost. Phoebe got an idea. Trevor joked last one to get melted was a rotten egg. Phoebe clarified no one was getting melted but getting fried was possible. They walked into the mansion and found their flightsuits transformed into pirate clothing and their equipment was gone except for their Particle Throwers which were transformed into Proton swords. Trevor called him lasers at first but Phoebe corrected him. They made their way up, floor by floor, and fought off pirate ghosts and one monkey ghost. Callie stopped a "vase" from falling off a table construct.

Gary kicked the door in and Phoebe demanded Kidd to let go of the kid. Trevor thought it sounded weird. Phoebe admitted she knew it did as soon as she said it. Kidd vowed they would not take his son away from him again. Callie taunted Kidd and called him Blackbeard. Gary missed it was an insult. Sammy shouted they were not his son or anybody's. Phoebe repeated herself then threw her Proton sword into Kidd's right shoulder. He reacted in pain. Trevor then Callie and Gary fought Kidd sword-to-sword. Trevor reckoned he would have guessed he needed to know how to sword fight. Gary liked the variety. Phoebe untied Sammy. Sammy shared their observation that Kidd never put the saber down one time and speculated they needed to separate him from it. Phoebe already ascertained that, ran to a window, and gave Lucky the signal then yelled at everyone to get down. Lucky fired several cannonballs from the ghost pirate ship and blew a hole into the mansion. Dan was impressed. Kidd looked around for the saber but Sammy had it. Kidd declared it was his and grew larger and angrier. Sammy stabbed him in the chest with it and he screamed. Gary remembered their Traps disappeared when they stepped inside. Ray Stantz operated the Drone Trap outside and trapped Kidd. The mansion reverted back to the Earthy / Crunchy Health Foods store but the big gaping hole remained.
