Lorenzo Music (also known as George David Music) was an American actor, voice actor, writer, television producer, and musician. He is best known for his role as the voice of Garfield the Cat in Garfield and Friends.

Ghostbusters Related

Lorenzo Music is known as the voice of Peter Venkman in The Real Ghostbusters seasons 1-2. Lorenzo was a TV writer but did not write any Ghostbusters related material.

Career

Lorenzo Music was perhaps best known for providing the voice of the animated cartoon cat Garfield and Carlton the doorman ("Hello, this is Carlton, your doorman") on the TV series "Rhoda." He is also known for his roles as Tummi Gummi in Disney's "Adventures of the Gummi Bears," and Larry the Crash Test Dummy in a series of 1980s public service announcements about wearing seat belts in vehicles. He also voiced Super Pac in the cartoon version of "Pac-Man," which he has completely disguised his voice from the lazy cat to the heroic chomping hero. Lorenzo Music is probably most famous, however for his writing and producing of such comedy hits as 'The Mary Tyler Moore Show', 'Smother Brothers Comedy Hour,' and 'The Bob Newhart Show,'

After two seasons of The Real Ghostbusters, Lorenzo Music was replaced by Dave Coulier as the voice of Peter Venkman.

Since his death of various bone and lung cancers, Frank Welker generally replaces Lorenzo Music as the voice of Garfield the Cat in recent productions based on the Garfield franchise. Bill Murray also voiced Garfield in the live-action films Garfield: The Movie and Garfield: A Tail of Two Kitties. Coincidentally, Music voiced Murray's character of Doctor Peter Venkman in The Real Ghostbusters. Possibly even greater of a coincidence, Bill Murray is said to be the main reason that Lorenzo Music was fired in the first place. Murray complained to the studio that the character sounded too much like Garfield, then later took on the live action role of Garfield. [citation needed]
