Mad Magazine is an American humor magazine first published in 1952. It was founded by editor Harvey Kurtzman and publisher William Gaines. The Ghostbusters were among the many franchises parodied within the magazine's pages.
Parodies[]
- Ghost-Dusters (MAD #253, March 1985): Ghost Dusters was a 3 page spoof written by Arnie Kogen with art from Sam Viviano. It was reprinted in the Mad Spoofs Movies 2015 special issue.
- Gross-busters II (MAD #290, October 1989): Gross-busters II was a spoof of Ghostbusters II.
- A Mad Look At Ghosts (MAD #291, December 1989): A parody by Serio Aragones (a colorized version was reprinted in the MAD Haunts Halloween special issue in 2024).
- Mad Spoofs Movie Classics (2015): The special was an issue that reprinted several classic movie spoofs from various issues.
- The Ghostbusters (2016 Movie) was spoofed in July 2016 on a one page list breaking down the types of people who went to see it.
- Messy Layered One (MAD #003, October 2018): In a parody of "Ready Player One," Ecto-1 appears on the far left of the very first page in a huge collage of various characters from a wide variety of franchises.[Note 1]
