Magicians, Martyrs, And Madmen[1] by Leon Zundinger is a book that is a compilation of various occult figures, history, and facts. It can also be found on the Occult Reference Net. The book, itself, never appeared but is occasionally referenced to.

History

While researching Vigo, Egon and Ray discovered an entry in Magicians, Martyrs, And Madmen while searching through the Occult Reference Net. Prince Vigo was in Chapter 6 of the book and the entry itself ran from pages 128 to 145.

Trivia

  • In the Ghostbusters II August 5, 1988 draft, Egon checks the name Jalmar Litvinov in the Sorcerer's Guide.[2]
  • In Ghostbusters Issue #2 page four, Egon's clipboard is an excerpt from "Magicians, Martyrs And Madmen." This excerpt is from pages 146-157 and quotes a line spoken by Necksa, Lord of the Undines, in "The Devil in the Deep"
  • In Ghostbusters Issue #11 page 11, Vigo's entry is seen on a computer screen.
  • Vigo Von Homburg Deutschendorf is a composite of the last names of the actors who play Vigo and baby Oscar.  Max Von Sydow who did an uncredited voice of Vigo, Wilhelm Von Homburg, William T and Henry J  Deutschendorf.
