Career[]
Michelle Moen was background painter on the "Taarna" segment of "Heavy Metal," a matte artist on many films including "Blade Runner," "Masters of the Universe," "The Monster Squad," "Dick Tracy," "Mars Attacks!," "Superman Returns," "I Am Legend" and "Watchmen". She supervised on "Alien 3," "Batman Returns," "Species," "Multiplicity," and more recently worked as an illustrator on "The Wolverine," "Edge of Tomorrow," "The Man from U.N.C.L.E.," and "Tomorrowland." Richard Edlund regards Moen as one of the best, if not the top, matte painters in the business. [1]
Ghostbusters[]
Michelle Moen used photos of the actual building used for 550 Central Park West and concept art as guide when she prepared matte paintings of the rooftop. [2]
Trivia[]
- Bill Murray visited Boss Films during production on the first movie. One morning, he went up to the matte room and stood behind Michele Moen as she painted and pretended to slip and fall into her painting, while holding a large coffee.[3]
