Not to be confused with the Paramount Building in The Real Ghostbusters
The Paramount Building (also known as Planet Building) is a 33 story, 391 foot tall office building located between 43rd and 44th Street in Times Square. It was envisioned Paramount Pictures' flagship theater and office tower.
History[]
Primary Canon[]
At the start of the Thanksgiving holiday in 1991, the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man manifested and searched for Ilyssa Selwyn in Times Square. One of the buildings it damaged in its search was the Paramount. Stay Puft even reached inside it through a hole it created. It turned out Ilyssa was in the building next door, Gamble Architecture. The Ghostbusters intervened and saved her.
Trivia[]
- During the last half of the Panic in Times Square Level of Ghostbusters: The Video Game (Realistic Versions), based on the signage, the Paramount Building is called the Planet Building in-game but the architecture is unchanged from the Paramount Building's look in real life.
- The Planet Building asset is reused in the cutscene when the Ghostbusters are driving into Central Park at the start of the last level. It is commonly mistaken for 550 Central Park West.
- The Paramount Building makes a cameo on page 9 of Ghostbusters Volume 2 Issue #12.
