Psychokinetic Atmospheric Influence (also known as Slime Eclipse) is a result of paranormal activity so intense and concentrated that it begins to affect weather patterns.

Canonicity[]

Psychokinetic Atmospheric Influence in the Primary Canon is developed from Ghostbusters (1984), Ghostbusters II, and Ghostbusters: Afterlife. In Ghostbusters: The Video Game (Realistic Versions), a Secondary Canon, Ghostbusters (1984) and Ghostbusters II pre-date the game, Ghostbusters: Afterlife conflicts with the game.

History[]

Primary Canon History[]

Ghostbusters (1984)[]

The sky was shown to change from a normal sunny day to night-like conditions as Gozer's summoning was affecting the sky itself. Happening over at 550 Central Park West in New York City, this event was referred as the "Coming of Gozer" according to the ideology of the two Terror Dogs Zuul and Vinz Clortho, and even of the Cult of Gozer.

Ghostbusters II[]

The Slime Eclipse took place on New Year's Eve. It was a supernatural event caused by the growing powers of Vigo and the immense energy of the Psychomagnotheric Slime through the increasing negative emotions fed off the citizens of New York. After Mayor Lenny fired his assistant Jack Hardemeyer, the Mayor's attention was directed to look outside his office where a shapeless mass of spiritual ectoplasmic energy surrounded the sky and blocked out the Sun, causing total pitch-black night. It was not until after the Ghostbusters defeated Vigo that the Slime Eclipse ended.

Ghostbusters: Afterlife[]

During the daily earthquakes, Psychokinetic Atmospheric Influence was seen in the sky above a mountain on the Shandor Mining Company property in Summerville, Oklahoma in summer 2021. It would slowly reform every couple of hours. It fully formed several days later, after Vinz Clortho sabotaged Egon Spengler's Proton Cannons. The Gozerian lightning soon struck Zuul and Vinz to turn them into Terror Dogs and complete their ritual. The atmospheric influence followed Gozer and hovered about the Farmhouse during the final battle before it and the ghost wisps flowing around it were trapped by the Trap Field.

Secondary Canon History[]

Ghostbusters: The Video Game[]

Once again, much like Gozer's summoning, the sky changed due to Psychokinetic Atmospheric Influence of the ghosts released by Walter Peck who were drawn to Ivo Shandor's mausoleum in the Cult of Gozer Cemetery as it infringed upon Central Park.

Tobin's Summary:[]

When there is a high level of spiritual activity in a concentrated location, the weather often reacts in kind. The resultant storms are usually more than mere severe weather systems and often involve fierce winds and oddly colored clouds.

Egon's Notes:[]

Due to the sympathetic relationship between PK energy and electromagnetic fields, it is no wonder this phenomenon exists. Couple this relationship with the fact that the barrier between the physical and ethereal planes is usually abnormally thin at these foci and you're bound to witness some atypical atmospheric patterns.

Ray's Tips:[]

Don't plan any picnics during PK surges.

Supplemental Data[]

The art page can found in the Central Park Cemetery, during the "No Rest..." section. It is hidden inside a monument in the first room with the dancing skeleton puzzle.

No P.K.E. Scan is required.

  1. American Cinematographer June 1984 Line reads: "Another way in which the pressures of the schedule plagued the matte department was that there was not time to tie down the color balance of some scenes before commitments had to be made either in lighting the set or in doing the paintings. Yuricich and Krepela had something of an uphill battle with the scene in which a vortex of boiling red and purple clouds is seen above the temple. There were problems matching the lighting on the set with the painting and the clouds shot in the cloud tank. Again Yuricich found himself painting over much of the set in order to blend the elements together."

We zeroed in on the scenes we wanted and we got everything from original dailies to 65 millimeter cloud tank footage that we used for those you know Gozerian clouds and we even found a piece of footage that truly, personally, was lost to history and those were the two takes that I originally was supposed to appear in Ghostbusters '84. I was cut out for reasons that one could possibly never understand and however, I, we scanned them and put them into Ghostbusters: Afterlife thus restoring my six-year-old performance back to where it belongs."
