Uncle Gaylord[1] (also known as Gaylord) ran a joke shop in Queens, New York until he died in the late 1980s. His nephew Ray Stantz inherited it.

History[]

Ray was initially surprised since he hadn't seen Gaylord since he was a child.[2] Gaylord's reason for willing the shop to Ray was he thought Ray had the worst sense of humor.[3] Gaylord's Joke Shop sold novelty joke items but Gaylord built a secret room underneath the property. It was called "Gaylord's Hall of Humor," a private museum of gags throughout history.[4][5] The Hall also had a Little Black Box imprisoning two Imps. It is unclear how the box even came into Gaylord's possession in the first place (though there is a possibility that Egon is not the only Ghostbuster to have ancestors that dealt with the supernatural). It is also unclear which side of Ray's family Gaylord was on. After the Imps were trapped, Ray decided it was best to sell Gaylord's shop.[6]
