The Zeddemore Academy is a private school in New York named after Winston Zeddemore.
History[]
Ghostbusters: Back in Town[]
In June 2022, Winston enrolled Phoebe Spengler at Zeddemore Academy. A girl looked at Phoebe and remarked she was a little young to be a senior. Winston warned her the city could be tough but knew she could handle it. Another girl insulted her coveralls. During math class, the teacher asked for a volunteer to present an example of a quadratic equation. Phoebe raised her hand and filled the entire board with them. The teacher remarked she would have been happy with one example rather than 60. After class, Phoebe traded texts with Podcast, who was still in Summerville, about her disappointment in New York so far. Podcast agreed school was a waste of time and asked if she busted any ghosts yet. Phoebe admitted she thought she did but it was just a senior with nacho flavored vape. Podcast missed ghostbusting. Back at the Firehouse, Trevor asked Phoebe if she had a first day from Hell, too. Phoebe asked which layer of Hell.
Some days later, Phoebe went to school with the bottom part of her shirt as well as the arms on her coveralls cut off. The trio of mean girls found it desperate. Phoebe quipped they could no longer make fun of her coveralls. One reiterated they said "overhauls." Another added Phoebe needed several. Phoebe told them a joke, "Why did the girl roll her eyes so much? Someday she hoped to find a brain back there." They found the joke lame. Phoebe entered a room then decided to cut school and headed to Ray's Occult Books.
Ghostbusters: Dead Man's Chest[]
Over texts, Phoebe talked to Podcast about everyone suddenly knowing her name at school and wanting to take selfies with her compared to six months ago when she was basically an apparition. Podcast jokingly warned her not to forget the little people then revealed he had grown two inches in height. During lunch, everyone tried to get Phoebe's attention. Phoebe sat alone at a table and noticed another student eating alone. Phoebe moved tables and asked the student, "Do you know why the comedian bombed at the art show?" The student replied, "Because the jokes got sketchy." Phoebe was impressed and introduced herself. Sammy Velez was aware who Phoebe was and noted she was kind of a celebrity. Phoebe hoped not because celebrities were like French Bulldogs, cute but died young. Phoebe pointed out the three mean girls and noted they did not like her very much. Sammy thought they were toxic and was not convinced they even liked each other.
When Phoebe inquired about the lack of friends present, Sammy joked in a robotic, monotone voice that "friend" did not compute then apologized for being lame. Phoebe thought it was funny and asked if they were into the occult. Sammy joked about having an on-again/off-again relationship with Satan. Phoebe clarified she meant ghosts and the afterlife. Sammy admitted they always thought ghosts were kinda cool and thought busting them must be wild. Phoebe boasted it was badass. A boy tried to call Phoebe over for his livestream. Phoebe decided to leave before she was turned into a meme then invited Sammy to Ray's Occult Books where she and Ray would be recording her other friend Podcast's podcast in the evening. Sammy keyed on his name being "Podcast." Phoebe found it to be an unlikely cypher. Sammy asked her what was a pirate's favorite element. Phoebe replied it was a tie between "Carrrrbon" and "Arrrrgon." Sammy added "Arrrrsenic" would also have been accepted.
